However, I just have some comments on this Diploma Course on Energy Technology.

The first consideration is how many students would probably enroll in the programme. The targets are the young engineers at PNOC in BACMAN and UNOCAL in Tiwi. Is there a prior consultation with the managements of these companies that they are willing to send their employees for this masteral studies? Will the students be full-time or part-time? I think the programme will be fortunate to have 15 students to enroll with background in engineering. But how about those with background in the sciences like BS Physics, BS Math, BSE, etc? Will they do well if they enroll in this programme? Can the topics of this diploma course be applied to government agencies like DENR-EMB, DepEd, DOST, DA, etc.? Engineer and Scientist Employees of these various agencies are also good student prospects.

The second aspect is, this diploma is not equivalent to an MS or M.Eng. Degree, and hence could not be used as a qualification for pursuing a Ph.D or D.Eng. Degree. With such the 18 months of study would just be a waste of time on the part of student, that he or she can complete an MS degree at UP for 6 months more. So why not just make it an MS degree? But I have far more consideration.

Offering such a degree would need complete research facilties. Can we have this facilities available before the class starts?

But I have something in mind which I want to share maybe some other time.
